4 What you will gain from taking the module
By the end of the module, you should be able to demonstrate:
(i) The ability to review sociological literature, and thereby identify an appropriate research focus;
(ii) The ability to formulate researchable sociological questions;
(iii) A knowledge and understanding of a range of sociological research methods, and an appreciation of
where they may be appropriately applied in practice;
(iv) A detailed, critical knowledge and understanding of relevant key social-theoretical themes and
perspectives.
Referencing
The sources used in this essay must be fully cited using the Harvard conventions. Citations should be given not only for directly quoted material, but also for summarised material. The essay should also contain a full reference list, again in the Harvard format, indicating the sources that have been cited in the text. It should not include general reading which is not specifically cited in the text.
