(1) Read Gaventa’s essay on the cosmic power of Sin in Our Mother, Saint Paul, chapter 9. (Attached)
(2) Next, read the Fitzmyer section on Sin, Death, Satan, and the Flesh in Paul and His Theology, pp. 71-74 (paragraphs 81-88). This reading is on Paul’s anthropology, that is, what Paul believed about human nature and its relation to evil.
– Write at least one paragraph summing up Paul’s view of evil. Cite passages from Paul, Gaventa, and Fitzmyer to substantiate your claims.
– Write at least another paragraph summing up your own view. Use concrete references and examples.
p.s. My view of the evil is “There is no such thing as evil. It’s just a label created by humans to describe things they do not like.”
