I just came back from Christmas vacation, and I couldnt wait to get back home. To you it might have sounded great, but it was an absolute nightmare. But being back home wasnt any better. You’d think it’s supposed to be cold here in Winter, but it’s like its in the middle of Summer or something. While everyone’s enjoying the warm weather, I’m stuck at home with nothing to do. Being at school wasn’t really enjoyable anyways.
I forgot to do a really big assignment about an international country showcase, and I asked my friend, Rowley to switch countries with me but hes pretty selfish and wouldn’t go for it, so I spent the whole day trying to finish it. I should have done some research about it, but I had no time, so I did a lot of guessing, which of course I had to redo it.
That wasn’t the only problem I had to deal with, though.
I live in a place called Surrey Street, and it’s divided into two sides: one is the flat part of the street and the other is the hill. Although we all live on the same street, the hills kids and the non-hill kids hate each other. Whenever a hill kid goes to the flat side, they get ambushed by the non-hill kids, and the same goes to the Lower Surrey Street kids. My mum tries to make me friends with kids in the bottom street, but she just doesn’t understand about the situation. Anyways, recently, Mum came up with this idea called Screen Free Weekends, which is exactly what it sounds like. Mum always tries to get me to play outside, but I’m more of an indoor person than an outdoor person. So today my mum forced me to get out of the house and made me play with Rowley.
Dad said that when he was young, kids used to make snow forts and battle against each other, so we went outside to make one. But then kids came and threw snowballs at our snow fort, and we had to run back home. After Dad gave us some advice, we went back outside, but some kids copied our ideas and made their own snow forts. We saw a snow fort which seemed empty and took over it. At first, we just threw snowballs at each other. But then, someone threw ice and broke someone’s tooth. We had a meeting at the centre and was ready to fight again, but we didn’t notice those Lower Surrey Street kids coming to the hill to sled. We built a huge wall made out of snow to stop them, but they got completely demolished. After that, it was just a total free for all. Rowley and I decided that we had enough, and we went somewhere safe to hide. Believe me, the next time Mum tells me to go outdoors, I’m just going to hide inside my home.
