Proposed title and research question: Analyse the changes made in EU external relations law brought about by the Lisbon Treaty.
To what extent has the external relations law of EU institutions changed the post-Lisbon Treaty and what are the main changes concerning the relationship with public international law?
Proposed description: When the Treaty of Lisbon entered into force it proved to be pivotal in relation to the EU’s external relations. The Treaty made many essential changes in the way EU external relations are conducted. This assignment will look into and discuss these important changes. Moreover, the study will examine the legal and institutional architecture of EU external relations in operation since the Treaty of Lisbon entered into force. In particular, the analysis will discuss the different actors in EU external relations, most prominently the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. Lastly, the assignment will highlight the persistent duality between the CFSP and non-CFSP external policies as well as internal policies with an external element.
