CHAPTER:- 1 INTRODUCTION

India is land of agriculture which comprise of small, marginal, medium and rich farmers. Small scale farmers are very interested in manually lever operated knapsack sprayer because of its versatility, cost and design. This paper suggests a model of manually operated multi nozzle pesticides sprayer pump which will perform spraying at maximum rate in minimum time.

In normal spray pump work on electrical battery operated or using manpower to operate lever or spraying pesticides. In push operated spray pump a one trolley is there in which specially mechanism or translating rotary motion into reciprocating motion used to operate the pump lever. This lever operates pump increase the pressure of pesticides and it will be sprayed.

It is a device which is used to sprinkle pesticides without more efforts.

1.1 Problem Summary:-

The farmers who use these types conventional backpack sprayer faces many types of problems like fatigue, tiredness, pain in muscles etc. Following problems can take place by use of this conventional type of pump. Heavy in weight causes difficulty in lifting manually. Fatigue to the operator due to heavy weight. Due to heavy weight during spray, operator feels very tiredness and fatigue which reduces his efficiency. Big size of pump cause inconvenience to the operator.

1.2 Project Detail:-

Fig. 1.1 crank-slotted mechanism

In crank – slotted mechanism crank is connected with slotted connecting rod. One end of connecting with crank and the other end of rod is connected with the piston rod of pump. Center of this rod is fixed with the frame of trolley and the rod is oscillating on this point. This mechanism converts rotary motion into reciprocating motion. So these mechanisms convert sprockets rotary motion into reciprocating motion of piston of pump.

1.3 working:-

When we push the trolley, the wheel rotates, pulley are mounted on this wheel. So due to rotation of wheel the pulley also rotates. This pulley is connected with another pulley by V-belt is connected with crank slotted mechanism. This mechanism converts rotary motion into reciprocating motion.

So due to reciprocation of piston the pressure develops in the hydraulic pump. In manual operation of pump this pressure can be developed by oscillating the handle of pump. So by this mechanism we can easily develop the pressure in the pump. This pressure chamber and other end is connected with the nozzle. Thus, the pressurized pesticide-water mixture comes in the discharge line and from there this mixture is come outside by the help of nozzle.

So, in simple words when we push the trolley the wheel rotates which is rotates the pulley which is connected with another pulley by the belt. This pulley rotates crank and thus the connecting rod oscillates on its fixed point and the piston of pump is reciprocate and pressure develops inside the hydraulic pump. At the end of discharge line there are cut off valve by which can control the pressurized pesticide and increase or decrease the flow of pressure.

The length of discharge line is adjustable so by adjusting the position of delivery pipe. When the distance between two rows of plant is more then we can increase the length of discharge pipe, so we can easily spray the pesticide. So in both situations we can easily spray pesticide very effectively. This is advantages of mechanism.

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has defined pesticide as: Any substance or mixture of substances intended for preventing, destroying, or controlling any pest, including vectors of human or animal disease, unwanted species of plants or animals, causing harm during or otherwise interfering with the production, processing, storage, transport, or marketing of food, agricultural commodities, wood and wood products or animal feedstuffs, or substances that may be administered to animals for the control of insects, arachnids, or other pests in or on their bodies. The term includes substances intended for use as a plant growth regulator, defoliant, desiccant, or agent for thinning fruit or preventing the premature fall of fruit. Also used as substances applied to crops either before or after harvest to protect the commodity from deterioration during storage and transport.

Backpack sprayer is fitted with a harness so the sprayers can be carried on the operator back. Tank capacity may be large as 20 liters. A hand lever is continuously operated for to maintain the pressures which make the backpack sprayers output more uniform than that of a handheld sprayers. Basic low cost backpack sprayer will generate only low pressure and lack feature such as high-pressure pumps, pressure adjustment control (regulator) and pressure gauge found on commercial grade units.

Performance of a chemical injection sprayer system, found the time delay of concentrated pesticides through injection sprayers to be significant, and proposed injection at the individual nozzles as a possible solution to shorten delays. Development of a direct nozzle injection system that overcame the concentration variation problems reported by previous researchers. Simulation is used to compare chemical application accuracies for various designs of injection sprayers. They found that reducing the diameter of the fluid lines near the end of the spray booms improved overall application accuracy.

Chapter 8:- Conclusion

The suggested model has removed the problem of back pain. Since there is no need to carry the tank on the back.

As suggested model has more number of nozzles which will cover maximum area of spraying in minimum time and at maximum rate.

Proper adjustment facility in the model with respect to crop helps to avoid excessive which result into less pollution.

Imported hollow cone nozzles should be used in the filed for better performance.

Muscular problems are removed an there is no need to operate the lever.

This alone pump can used for multiple crops.
